Vox Jot / macOS Beta

Fast local dictation for getting words out of your head.

Vox Jot is being prepared for direct macOS Apple Silicon distribution first. The production path is signed, notarized, local-first, and built around app-managed model and runtime downloads instead of a bloated first installer.

Production Target

Direct Mac distribution comes first.

Primary Beta

macOS Apple Silicon

The first public target is a downloadable macOS build for Apple Silicon Macs. This keeps permissions, global shortcuts, local models, paste output, and sidecar runtime behavior outside App Store review friction while the product hardens.

Distribution

Signed direct download

The release path is Developer ID signing, hardened runtime, notarization, stapling, and Gatekeeper validation before broad beta access. The public download link will appear here after update artifacts and rollback checks are ready.

Updates

Signed updater next

Automatic updates are part of the beta gate. The app should publish signed update artifacts and channel metadata before a wider release, with stable and beta tracks kept separate.

Local-First Promise

Audio and transcripts stay local by default.

  • Dictation is designed around local recording and local transcription.
  • Transcript telemetry is not required for the core product experience.
  • Crash or log export should be opt-in and redacted, not automatic transcript capture.
Model Footprint

Heavy pieces should install on demand.

Larger OCR, speech-analysis, TTS, and model runtimes belong in clear app-managed downloads. That keeps the base installer practical while still making visible features runnable for normal users.

Beta Gate

What must be true before this page gets a download button.

Release readiness

  • Signed DMG or app archive is notarized and stapled.
  • Updater artifacts are signed and published with current metadata.
  • Install, launch, dictate, paste, model download, and update checks pass on a clean Mac.

User readiness

  • Support and privacy pages are live on the same product domain.
  • Permission setup explains microphone, accessibility, and automation prompts plainly.
  • Known limitations are visible before users spend time installing the beta.
Current Status
Public beta preparation is in progress.

Use the support and privacy routes now. The production download should be added only after signing, notarization, updater, and clean-machine smoke checks are complete.
