Vox Jot / Support

Support for local dictation on macOS.

Vox Jot is preparing a direct macOS beta. This page gives users a clear place for permission setup, download expectations, issue reporting, and privacy details before the public installer goes live.

Beta Status

The public download is not posted here yet.

A download button should be added only after signed updater artifacts, notarized app validation, and a clean-machine install smoke test have passed. Until then, this page is the support and readiness route for the upcoming beta.

Permissions

macOS will ask for access.

Dictation needs microphone access. Paste output and global shortcuts may also require Accessibility or Automation approval depending on the workflow. If a prompt is denied, open System Settings and review Privacy & Security for Vox Jot.

FAQ

The common Vox Jot questions.

Does Vox Jot send my audio to a server?

The production goal is local-first dictation. Audio and transcripts should stay on the device by default, with any optional exports or diagnostics controlled by the user.

Why does the app download models or runtimes?

Some speech, OCR, TTS, and analysis features need large model or runtime files. Keeping those as app-managed downloads prevents the first installer from becoming unnecessarily large while still making features installable for normal users.

What Mac should I use for the first beta?

The first production target is macOS on Apple Silicon. Windows and Linux builds can follow after the macOS direct-distribution path is stable.

How do I report a beta issue?

Email kimani@iriedinamik.org with your Mac model, macOS version, Vox Jot version, what you expected, and what happened. Do not include private transcripts unless you intentionally choose to.
